The five-member Judicial Council of the Supreme Court decided, by unanimous decree, that the crime of passive bribery for which former Defense Minister Akis Tsochatzopoulos had been referred by the Parliament, has lapsed.

The judicial council has suggested that Mr.Tsochatzopoulos should not be prosecuted for the particular offence. As for the accusation of money laundering the Supreme Court suggested that it should be referred to criminal courts since Mr. Tsochatzopoulos was not serving in any official capacity when the offence took place.
