According to the national weekly VIMA the union federation of policemen, firemen and port guards will demonstrate tomorrow Thursday against the economic measures of the Greek government. They will gather in Kolokotroni Square, in uniform and then will join the protesters of Syntagma Square.

In a joint statement they state that: “the new measures destroy our living standards through the looting of our miserable income, the limiting of the five day week, of the night shift extra pay and other benefits” while the new cuts do not guarantee the minimum operation of the security forces.

Actually, there has been a lot of talk for a long time about how the peacekeeping forces have been hit by the austerity measures: policemen are forced to pay for the petrol for patrolling cars, for their bullets, for the bulletproof vests etc.
